Did you know that CI hosts monthly REC events?! These are monthly, themed recreation events created for you, our CI families! You may have seen monthly flyers around the clinic.

In June, CI began hosting monthly REC events in each of the eight CI clinics.  These events are planned and hosted by the regional recreational therapists.  Chloe plans and hosts events for Verona, Middleton, Waunakee, and Wausau, and Ketura plans and hosts for McKee, Hatchery Hill, Sun Prairie, and Janesville. With their expertise in recreation and leisure, all participants are sure to have a good time!

Why should I go, and who should I bring?

There are so many reasons to come to a REC event. You’ll be able to enjoy a free family night, each month with a different theme to spark everyone’s interests, and you can bring the whole family! We love when siblings, grandparents, and family members come to family nights. Your child is already familiar with the clinic, hopefully easing any nerves about trying new activities.  We understand that going to a new place can bring many uncertainties for both you and your child, so we are offering events as a stepping stone to enjoying recreation in other settings.

Is my family a good fit?

YES! As a part of the CI family, you are always welcome.  If you are uncertain, the recreation therapist will be happy to plan with you, if you’d like additional accommodations, and be there for you during the event.  Another perk of attending the CI clinic REC events, is that the events are a judgement-free zone! Parents and caregivers can feel at ease knowing that CI staff and even fellow families are there to support and encourage one-another.

But it’s a school night…

To accommodate for school nights, we plan our events to begin shortly after CI closes so that families can join, participate, and leave when they need to. There is no obligation to stay for the entire event.  We understand the value of time for school work, a night time routine, and a good night’s sleep.

How do we sign up?

Let your CI clinic Care Coordinator know that you plan to attend.  By knowing how many people to expect, we can more accurately plan for supplies and the number of volunteers needed.

Can’t wait to see you there!
