Carissa received her master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from UW-Milwaukee and her bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Psychology at UW-Madison. While in her OT program, she also earned a certificate in Trauma-Informed Care. Carissa strongly values creating a safe and supportive environment so children can thrive and reach their full potential. Throughout the therapeutic process, she is committed to developing a culture of respect, trust, connection, collaboration, and empowerment for all children and their families. Carissa is particularly passionate about providing holistic and client-centered care for children through participation in meaningful and purposeful play-based activities. She has previous work experience in outpatient orthopedics, inpatient mental health, and Applied Behavioral Analysis therapy programs. Additionally, she has volunteer experience with local non-profit organizations dedicated to health equity and inclusion. Carissa is super excited to be back on the CI team to serve her home community! In her free time, Carissa enjoys visiting the park with her dog, Koda, puzzling while watching her favorite movies, and spending quality time with her family and friends.
